About
Dr. Festus Oderanti is a Full Professor of Computer Science and Program Director for the Master of Science in Information Technology (M.S.I.T.) and Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (B.S.I.T.) programs at Liberty University. He brings over 18 years of international teaching and academic experience across higher education institutions in Africa, Europe, and North America. Prior to joining Liberty University, he served as a Lecturer in Knowledge and Information Management at the University of Plymouth, United Kingdom, and as a Senior Lecturer in Information Systems at the Business School, University of Hertfordshire, United Kingdom.
Dr. Oderanti earned his PhD in Computer Science from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, United Kingdom, where his research focused on strategic business games and decision-making under uncertainty. He also holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science, a Master of Business Administration (MBA), and a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Computer Science.
Following his doctoral studies, he completed two years of postdoctoral research in health informatics and digital inclusion at Newcastle University Business School as part of a £2 million Innovate UK-funded project on sustainable business models for assisted living technologies in the digital economy. He also served as a co-investigator on a European Union Erasmus+ KA2 project focused on developing online tools to foster entrepreneurship in the retail sector for young people, collaborating with partners across Spain, Italy, and Romania.
He has held visiting research roles at Newcastle University’s Culture Lab and Business School and has collaborated with industry and public sector organizations across sectors including eHealth, manufacturing, retail, and the creative industries. His interdisciplinary background enables him to integrate computing and business perspectives to support innovation and organizational transformation in knowledge-based economies.
Dr. Oderanti is a Cisco Certified Instructor and holds multiple ITIL certifications, including Foundation, V2–V3 Bridge, and Practitioner in Service Desk and Incident Management. He also holds PRINCE2 Practitioner Certification in Project Management.
Research interests
Dr. Oderanti’s research focuses on the intersection of information systems, business strategy, and digital innovation. His work spans decision support systems, knowledge management, project management, and decision-making under uncertainty, with a strong emphasis on real-world applicability.
He has extensive experience in health informatics and digital inclusion, particularly in developing sustainable business models for assisted living technologies in the digital economy. His research explores how digital information and communication technologies (ICTs) can drive strategic innovation and organizational transformation across sectors, including healthcare, manufacturing, retail, creative industries, and the public sector. Drawing on his interdisciplinary background, he develops practical and scalable solutions to complex organizational and societal challenges.

He has served on the editorial boards of leading academic journals and is a former member of the Journal of Business Research (JBR) and the Journal of Innovation & Knowledge (Elsevier). He has also served as a guest editor for special issues, including the International Journal of Decision Support System Technology (IJDSST).
