About

Dr. Claxton graduated from Liberty University with a B.S. degree in Human Resources Management and spent several years in business before returning to college to get his teaching certificate. He spent 21 years as a public school educator in Georgia and South Carolina, serving as a high school economics teacher and coach, dean of students, assistant principal, and eventually as a principal. During this time he earned his M.Ed. at The University of West Georgia, and his Ed.S. and Ed.D. at The University of Georgia.
 
During his time as a school administrator, Dr. Claxton started teaching college courses at Georgia State University and then Liberty University. Dr. Claxton joined the Liberty University residential faculty in 2011. He has served in the School of Education as an Online Chair, Chair of Curriculum and Instruction, Chair of Leadership and Advanced Programs, Director of Educational Leadership, and Associate Professor. Dr. Claxton currently teaches courses in the Educational Leadership Program and has numerous publications and presentations on various leadership topics.
