Description
We use murine models to investigate the effect of viral expression and viral vaccines on cancer growth and metastasis.
Layman's description
We inoculate cancer cells into mice to make mammary tumors. The cancer cells have been engineered in terms of viral expression. These viruses are endogenous, meaning they are in the genes of the mice. We treat the mice with various viral preparations and observe tumor size, tumor mass, and spreading to the lungs.
Key findings
Both murine and human endogenous retroviruses may modulate cancer growth and metastasis.
