Description
Ancient microbes have been unequivocally identified from halite from Precambrian to Holocene, but the cells are genetically modern, and the dating is beyond known mechanisms of dormancy. We are interested in finding these organisms in fossils.
Key findings
Halophilic bacteria have been found in dinosaur fossils.
