Abstract

With more counselor education programs seeking CACREP accreditation, coupled with currently-accredited programs transitioning to the 2009 CACREP standards, this presentation will provide information on the development of an assessment plan of student learning outcomes. With the presenters having recently completed the CACREP accreditation process at their institutions, the transition to a comprehensive assessment plan of student learning outcomes presented as the greatest challenge to develop and implement on a consistent basis. This transition to clarify a comprehensive assessment plan has presented challenges to both currently-accredited programs, as well as program seeking accreditation for the first time. This presentation intends to provide information to assist program seeking to develop or modify an assessment plan to meet 2009 CACREP accreditation standards. Persons attending this presentation will receive information according to the following learning objectives: 1.) understand the primary items to be addressed through the assessment plan; 2.) gain information regarding the development of a comprehensive and consistent plan to assess student learning outcomes, program objectives, and curriculum; and 3.) have information about the implantation of the assessment plan. Examples will be provided, as well as information regarding the CACREP Board/Reviewer feedback received by the presenters.
