Abstract
Research has consistently indicated that Native Americans students perform at lower academic performance levels than that of the majority population, as well as below the performance levels of all other culturally diverse student populations in some cases. Low academic performance levels have typically been understood as related to other psychosocial and developmental issues, which continue to steadily affect members of Native Americans throughout North America. This roundtable session will discuss current research related to educational alternatives that attend to traditional values of Native America tribes and clans, but also address the learning styles of Native American students. To goals of this session are to articulate the current problems with the academic performance issues among Native American students and equip participants with knowledge of educational alternatives that both attend to traditional values of Native Americans and can be adjusted to match different learning styles (1005 characters).
