Hiring and Instruction-Presentation and Panel Discussion

Research output: Contribution to conferencePresentation

Abstract

Jeremy McGinniss, Library Director at Clark’s Summit University, explained how his library reframed the student worker program to position learning at the center of the experience. In his presentation, McGinniss encouraged librarians to view themselves as pedagogues, not managers. His approach challenged the traditional business framework -- job descriptions became learning outcomes, and assessment rubrics replaced performance reviews. McGinniss not only redefined core elements of the program to emphasize its educational purpose, he also focused on student engagement, asking each student to develop learning goals and reflect on their progress
