The Practice of Da’wa to Promote Relationship Building

This article discusses the topic of da’wa in Islam. In Arabic, Da’wa means “to call” or “invite,” and refers to missionary activity in Islam. This work includes a brief history of da’wa from the life of Mohammad until modern times. The first section traces the methodology of da’wa since the rise of Islam and how it changed throughout time and in different locations. The second section includes a brief survey about how da’wa is practiced among women in Muslim majority (Indonesia and Syria) and non-Muslim-majority (Great Britain, USA) countries. The final section provides three practical recommendations for western female western missionaries in their conversations with and ministries to Muslim women.
